DESCRIPTION

HAUS@SERANGOON GARDEN is the first landed housing estate in Singapore to be equipped with a 1 kilowatt-peak Photovoltaic (PV) system installed on the roof of the houses to generate solar energy. Power from this renewable energy source will off-set the grid electricity consumed by the refrigerator provided for each house. Home owners can benefit directly from cost savings on their electricity bill.

Another first-of-its-kind innovation for a landed housing estate in Singapore is the implementation of an air-conditioner heat recovery system. Waste heat generated from the operation of the air-conditioners will be used to provide home owners with hot water in their bathrooms.

Aside from being energy-efficient, HAUS@SERANGOON GARDEN is also the first landed housing estate to incorporate a rainwater harvesting system on a project-ready basis. Rainwater collected can be recycled by home owners for gardening use. Water efficient sanitary fixtures and fittings such as water closets and taps (certified under PUB’s Water Efficiency Labelling Scheme) have also been installed.

Sustainable quality materials are featured extensively in the building structure and roadworks. This includes eco-friendly cement, which is used in place of regular Portland cement in concrete production, as well as green concrete (Recycled Concrete Aggregates and Washed Copper Slag). Ceiling boards, road pavements and pre-cast concrete drains and road kerbs are constructed with materials that contain 30% recycled content.
