DESCRIPTION

Sofitel So Singapore will occupy a heritage building, formerly The Ogilvy Centre. Built in 1927, the building neo-classical facade features large coupled columns, recessed balconies with cast-iron balustrades, and radial semi-circular arch openings with keystones. In an effort to preserve the prestige and heritage of the iconic building, the owner Royal Group Holdings has spent close to $130 million to restore and refurbish the 87-year-old neo-classical landmark to enhance its structure and essence.

One of the key features for Sofitel’s So hotels is that it will combine the iconic Sofitel “art de vivre” with a signature of an international designer from the worlds of fashion or art to present the best of the location.

The hotel’s interior design was developed by Singapore based French design house Miaja Design Group, with a creative cast led by Isabelle Miaja.

Except the unexpected when stepping through doors of Sofitel So Singapore’s heritage building, as the design concept uniquely combines French elegance and the spirit of art-de-vivre with local charm. Some prominent designs that will welcome guests as they step through the lobby L’Hexagone, a magnificent light installation that starts at the ceiling, a custom art piece called 8 by 6, and several other surprise elements through the lobby.

Sofitel So Singapore was awarded the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Green Mark Platinum Award in 2012 for integrating a number of green initiatives to enhance environmental sustainability throughout the hotel.
