Advanced technology solution provider SIMPPLE brought home the SBR Technology Excellence Awards 2024 for the Software – Real Estate category with its autonomic intelligence engine SIMPPLE A.I. that leverages machine learning and computer vision capabilities to automate workflows.

SIMPPLE enables facility managers and building contractors to adopt a data-driven approach, consolidating operations on a single unified dashboard through SIMPPLE Software. This approach enhances accountability and transparency across building managers and service contractors.

The API-enabled platform allows easy integration with other solution providers, resulting in a holistic dashboard filled with multiple touchpoints of a facility, making it a more cost-effective and efficient one-stop shop for end-users. The development of this technology comes amidst companies exploring new ways to manage their ESG and sustainability goals more efficiently, incorporating data into operations, and reinventing property management.

SIMPPLE A.I. serves as an add-on engine powering the SIMPPLE Ecosystem to perform autonomous operations. This groundbreaking A.I. model is being developed and piloted at select sites in Singapore through an innovation grant call supported by the Singapore Government.

With support from the National Environment Agency (NEA) and Enterprise Singapore, SIMPPLE has become a promising technology innovator under NEA’s INCUBATE programme. Its goal is to revolutionise the way buildings operate by equipping them with smart and green technologies, addressing the manpower crunch with greater transparency and accountability within the operations in developed nations.

Diversified industrial conglomerate Jebsen & Jessen Group recently announced the acquisition of GMA Garnet Group (GMA), the world’s largest and only fully integrated garnet company. This strategic move strengthens Jebsen & Jessen Group’s presence in the global market and will support the new phase of development for GMA.

The acquisition marks Jebsen & Jessen Group’s largest investment to date, part of its ‘Advance & Build’ strategy to strengthen its global presence through targeted acquisitions and partnerships. This follows the Group’s recent acquisition of a majority stake in Safetech; and acquisitions of MHE-Demag’s Industrial Products (IPD) Business in February 2023, now known as MHE; and Electro-Mechanical Services (EMS) in Australia in April 2023.

Over four decades, GMA has transformed from its beginnings as a distribution business into the largest and only fully integrated garnet company in the world. A trusted global leader in industrial garnet, the company manages the complete supply chain from the source to processing, international distribution, and recycling; providing the highest quality garnet blasting, waterjet products and speciality minerals to the abrasive blasting, waterjet cutting, and protective coating industries.

Jebsen & Jessen Group, with its distinctive heritage as a trusted provider of quality industrial products and value-added solutions, sees GMA, which is already part of the global Jebsen & Jessen Family Enterprise, as a strategic fit for the Group. The acquisition will see the creation of a new and sixth business unit within the Group, marking its second business unit with a global footprint.

As part of the Jebsen & Jessen Group, GMA will receive the investment, resources, and support for its new phase of development, which will see the expansion of its business scope. This will include capital investments for increased mining and processing capacities, further cementing its position as the undisputed global leader in the industrial garnet industry.

“Jebsen & Jessen Group is thrilled to welcome the GMA Garnet Group to our family. For over 40 years, GMA has established itself as an industry leader, inspiring us with their ability to expand their offerings and achieve global success,” said Heinrich Jessen, Chairman of Jebsen & Jessen Group. “This strategic move opens exciting doors for the Group as we grow beyond our traditional ASEAN base and into new territories of deeper technical expertise and value-added offerings.”

“Becoming part of the Jebsen & Jessen Group is a major milestone for GMA. The acquisition is a strong testament to the work we’ve done over four decades and supports our vision for expansion and innovation. With the support of the Group’s expertise and resources, we look forward to strengthening our operations, ensuring long-term sustainability and efficiency across all our facilities, and realising our vision for growth while delivering exceptional value to our customers,” added Grant Cox, CEO of GMA Garnet Group.

Throughout history, the symbiotic relationship between nature and culture has significantly influenced art, fashion, and architecture. Aiming to unravel the various dimensions in which nature can serve as a wellspring of inspiration, Milan Design Week was centred around “Materia Natura”. Embracing this theme, the world’s largest annual design event serves as an ideal stage for GROHE SPA, the premium sub-brand of GROHE, a global brand for complete bathroom solutions and kitchen fittings. Celebrating the transformative power of water at the impressive Palazzo Reale near the Duomo, GROHE showcases carefully curated bathroom solutions that epitomise new luxury and bespoke quality in a holistic installation.

A tribute to nature and history

Based on the concept of “Aquatecture” – the fusion of water and architecture – the GROHE SPA installation in the courtyard of Palazzo Reale unveils a series of spaces that elevate the significance and importance of water in architecture, and the health and well-being benefits this infusion brings. Conceived by the in-house LIXIL Global Design and Brand Identity team, the “Aquatecture” installation pays tribute to the history of the building, interwoven with the contemporary GROHE SPA “Salus per aquam” concept. Inspired by the former courtyard garden and in synergy with Milan Design Week’s theme “Materia Natura”, it thoughtfully blends nature and architecture to create immersive spaces that reflect the essence of GROHE SPA. These carefully curated spaces echo the former garden, creating sensual areas to reflect, revitalise, and energise.

“Through our installation at Palazzo Reale, we reflect the intricate bond between nature and human creativity, intertwining the rich history of the royal palace with the modern ethos of GROHE SPA. Inviting visitors on a sensory journey to deeply experience ‘Salus per aquam’, our ‘Aquatecture’ spaces exhibit the powerful connection of water in architecture. They stand not only as showcases but as inspiration for architects and designers, encouraging collaboration and experimentation,” explains Antoine Besseyre Des Horts, Leader, LIXIL Global Design, Asia.

Redefining spa luxury across four tiers

Each “Aquatecture” space represents one of the four tiers that bring GROHE SPA to life. Visitors embark on their immersive journey at the fourth tier that shows industry-leading products to create the ultimate home spa hideaway. Shower solutions like GROHE Rainshower Aqua and the F- Digital Deluxe modules combine timeless elegance with modern technology, using light, steam, sound and smell to delight the senses.

In addition, the GROHE Atrio Outdoor Shower provides a refreshing and rejuvenating experience, enabling a stronger connection to nature and the tranquility this brings. Transitioning to the third tier, the spotlight is on the GROHE Colors Collection with the new Satin finish. Offering a luxurious touch and expanded design choices for a personalised look, the new finish is available for GROHE Allure and GROHE Atrio, as well as matching showers and accessories in the colors Satin Steel and Satin Graphite.

The highlight of the second tier is the new GROHE Allure Gravity, available from May 2025. Blending a slim square silhouette with boundless avenues for customisation, the faucet line comes with exchangeable cover plates expertly crafted from glass, mirror or Caesarstone mineral surfaces. GROHE is partnering with Caesarstone, the global pioneer of premium countertop surfaces, to craft cover plates from the brand’s durable surfaces in timeless designs. Culminating the exhibition, the first tier is comprised of the conceptual GROHE Icon 3D collection: The 3D metal-printed products redefine what is possible, while taking sustainable product design with ultimate customisation options to a new level.
