Cosentino, the global leader company in the production of sustainable surfaces for architecture and design, announces Dekton® Ukiyo, a new textured collection that features linear fluting and offers liveable luxury with the durability of Dekton®. Created in collaboration with the internationally recognised high-end interior and product designer, USA-based Claudia Afshar, the collection is available in ready-to-install fluted tiles, one of the first offerings of its kind in the industry. Its textures bring distinctive depth and dimension to any space, be it residential or commercial.

Dekton® Ukiyo is inspired by Japanese and contemporary design and celebrates the art of minimalism and embracing the present. Ukiyo in Japanese means to “live in the moment” and the Dekton® collection is designed to awaken the senses and evoke a feeling of wellness by achieving a beautiful, calm state in the space. It embodies a rich palette of sensations, showcasing a geometric yet smooth structure that creates harmonious designs both inside and outside.

“Playing with texture is timeless, and it is so important in all materials, not just fabric,” said  Claudia Afshar. “I have always been inspired by the materials found in nature and making the spaces I design as comfortable, warm and authentic as possible. Ukiyo is calming yet  simplistic, and the colourways and fluting are romantic, but also contemporary and masculine  to achieve balance.”

Specially designed for vertical cladding application, Dekton® Ukiyo will be available in a matte finish and two fluting options: GV2 with groves set 25 mm apart and measuring 5mm wide and 3 mm deep; and GV3 with groves set 11 mm apart and are 4mm wide and deep. Both will come in tile size 17.7 inches by 118 inches (450 mm x 3000 mm). To launch the Ukiyo offering, Afshar hand-selected five existing Dekton® colourways: Bromo, Kreta, Nacre, Umber, and Rem to provide a comprehensive colour palette to work independently and together.

Dekton® products are full life cycle carbon neutral and were selected for the collection due to their sustainable properties and high-performance capabilities. Dekton® Ukiyo is ideal for a  virtually limitless range of vertical applications ranging from facades and fireplaces to custom furniture and so much more.

“Every day I strive to think outside the box in order to create something unique, yet special for each project. This collaboration offers just that and I am so thankful to the entire Cosentino team for bringing this collection to the market” said Afshar.

  • Bromo offers a dark grey shade, inspired by homogeneous metamorphic rocks such as slate. Subtle, faded graphics, a carefully-created texture and a natural aesthetic define this evocative colour, perfect for any type of environment.
  • Kreta is inspired by classic cement floors, with calm movement. The design is even and controlled, although it provides darker or lighter areas depending on the density of the pattern. Its matte texture and grey tone combine with any type of material and make it suitable for diverse applications.
  • Nacre boasts movement that engages all senses – the trowel marks that bring the colour to life, and the subtle interplay of light and shadow that accompanies every inch of the design. The touch delights with a silky finish as the fingers run over the different reliefs and scattered gradients. A pleasure for its high decorative and emotional value.
  • Umber features a timeless, rebellious colour with its own personality and a special charisma. The terracotta is warm and very attached to the Earth and closely connected to nature.
  • Rem provides intricate design, with brown and grey veining and hints of gold. Its fine veining under a subtle grain offers the ultimate in natural sensitivity.

The Ukiyo collection is available for viewing at Cosentino City Singapore, located at 5 Straits  View, Marina One The Heart (West Tower), #01-16/17, Singapore 018935.

Cosentino is delighted to host the Cosentino & Expormim exhibition in Singapore. Running from 6 to 12 July 2023, the exhibition will see the Cosentino City Singapore showroom decked out with the leading Spanish furniture brand’s latest and greatest pieces, most of which are crafted using Cosentino’s ultra-compact stone Dekton®, showcasing the best of both architectural surfaces and furniture worlds.

Brought together by their shared values and Spanish heritage, Cosentino and Expormim started their collaboration in 2016, when the furniture brand started incorporating Dekton® into its table collections. The collaboration has expanded Expormim’s technical abilities, as well as the finishing options and distinguishability of its products, as well as showcasing Dekton®’s versatility beyond the architectural application – a match made in design heaven that has taken the value of designs for both brands to a new height.

Today, Cosentino’s offering includes the Dekton® Slim collection as a slimmer, more lightweight finishing option while many of Expormim’s offerings include custom Dekton® finishes. Some of the star products that will be displayed at the Cosentino & Expormim showcase include the Talo tables by Altherr Désile Park, Grada tables by Lievore Altherr Molina, and Atrivm tables by Manel Molina. These tables feature beloved Dekton® colours, including Danae, Kelya, Albarium, Argentium, Umber and Micron. Expormim also offers customisation with other Dekton® colours.

These tables will be displayed together with Expormim’s latest seating collection, including Norm Architects’ Cask outdoor collection debuted in Milan Design Week earlier this year, which together will create cosy ensembles to cater to our contemporary lifestyle.

“We have a shared origin, Spain, the same global vocation with deep Mediterranean roots and a clear commitment to tradition and sustainability. We will celebrate our collaboration with new exhibition spaces, events and some other surprises in Singapore,” says Expormim of the collaboration.

The exhibition runs from 6 to 12 July 2023 at #01-16/17 Marina One West Tower, 5 Straits View, Singapore 018935.

Cosentino Presents 13th edition of Cosentino Design Challenge

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Cosentino, the leading Spanish global company in the production and distribution of innovative surfaces for the world of architecture and design, launches a call for entries for the Cosentino Design Challenge (CDC), which aims to promote the talent and creativity of future international architecture and design professionals.

Celebrating its thirteenth edition this year, this competition encourages students from all over the world to create sustainable and innovative projects that boast outstanding conceptual and technical quality, with a creative and technical emphasis placed on the topics set for each category.

In the Architecture section, Cosentino advised students to reflect on “Cosentino and water”. In the Design category, the subject is based on “Cosentino and energy”. These represent two passionate proposals in which the company provides students with an unfettered freedom to research and create. They must incorporate one or more of the innovative products that Cosentino offers to the world of architecture and design: the Silestone quartz surface, the ultra-compact Dekton surface and/or the natural stone range with exclusive anti-stain Sensa protection by Cosentino.

On October 8 2018, Cosentino City Madrid hosted the competition presentation with the support of Cosentino company representatives, architecture and design professionals, press specialists, and some teachers/professors from 29 schools and universities of renowned national and international prestige, who actively collaborate in the competition.

In addition, three winners from the previous edition were also awarded the prizes on 8 October. The event culminated in a talk by guest Architect Daniel Rincón de la Vega entitled La vivienda de lujo en Madrid desde 1.900 (The luxury home in Madrid since 1900).

Since 2017, Cosentino has been enjoying their collaboration with their first media partner Experimenta. Through their online and offline platforms, this publication has become a great ally in disseminating and raising awareness of the CDC initiative.

The submission period for final project designs is open until June 1 2019. All submissions have to be submitted via www.cosentinodesignchallenge.org. The jury will deliver their decision on the winning projects on June 2019. Three prizes of €1,000 each for first place winners, including three runner-ups will be awarded for each category.

Cosentino Unveils Seven New Shades in its Silestone and Sensa Ranges in Singapore

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Cosentino Group, the world leader in the production and distribution of innovative surfaces for architecture and design, is pleased to announce the Singapore launch of its newest colours in its Silestone® and Sensa® ranges.

In total, seven new colours will be available in Singapore from today onwards; five from the Silestone® Eternal Collection, and two from the Sensa by Cosentino® Protected Natural Stone range.

The five new colours of the luminary Silestone® Eternal Collection are the Bianco Calacatta, Classic Calacatta, Desert Silver, Eternal Emperador, and Eternal Marfil.

The Eternal Collection is the first in Silestone’s offerings to have veining and highlights run completely through the material, making for an unparalleled natural beauty coupled with Silestone’s industry-leading performance, thanks to the Silestone® N-Boost technology.

This innovation, which has been patented by Cosentino, modifies the material’s surface at a molecular level to give it greater color saturation and extraordinary lustre, along with an enhanced water repellent property that makes the surface easier to clean and maintain.

As with all Silestone® natural quartz products, the Eternal Collection includes the notable characteristics that set the brand apart: high resistance to impact and scratching; manufactured in large formats; and versatility of application. Please see Annex A for the new Silestone® Eternal Collection shades.

“Cosentino’s investment in R&D to develop the complex, full body designs of the Silestone® Eternal Collection, has received wide recognition by consumers, architects and designers alike. We are delighted to present now these new Eternal colors and we look forward to the collection’s continued success in 2018,” says Valentin Tijeras, Vice-President of Global Product and R&D, Cosentino.

Cosentino also adds two exotic new Brazilian quartzite colours to its Sensa by Cosentino® Protected Natural Stone range. The two new shades, Taj Mahal and White Macaubas, join the Sensa Premium range and feature the exclusive Senguard NK stain protection.

These two new surfaces are the first quartzites to join the Sensa by Cosentino® range. Quartzite is a very hard metamorphic rock that is composed almost entirely of quartz and is the perfect substitute for a natural stone that is more durable and hardwearing than traditional marbles, whilst offering a similar look.

Sensa surfaces offer an excellent level of stain protection, including against acidic substances commonly found in household kitchens, with no need for special daily maintenance. Anchored to the surface of the stone, the Senguard NK stain protection technology also offers the surface of the countertop UV resistance, allowing the natural stone surfaces to be used inside and out whilst still allowing the stone to breathe and preserve its natural colour. The new surfaces are also safe for contact with food thanks to their NSF certification. Please see Annex B for the new Sensa by Cosentino® shades.

The seven new shades were unveiled in Singapore on 17 August at an exclusive launch party held at Cosentino City Centre showroom. Over 100 guests from the media and design industry were in for a treat at the event with the theme “Brazilian Summer Nights”, alluding to the exotic new Brazilian quartzites in the Sensa by Cosentino® that were being launched that night in addition to the new shades in the Silestone® Eternal Collection.

The new shades of the Silestone® Eternal Collection were mounted on the walls of the Cosentino City Centre showroom, for the guests to view and feel for themselves. One of the kitchen countertops in the Cosentino showroom was also replaced with a countertop made from Sensa® in the shade of Macaubas so that guests could see how the surface looks like on an actual kitchen top. Additionally, an ornamental flower pot made from the new Sensa® shade of Taj Mahal was on display to show the versatility and beauty of the two colours.

Newly appointed General Manager of Cosentino Southeast Asia, Pablo Abad Gomez enthuses, “With the launch of at least a dozen new shades in various collections this year alone in Singapore, Cosentino is cementing its position as a market leader of innovative surfaces in Southeast Asia. We look forward to shaping and growing the industry in the region through collaborations that showcase the uniqueness and versatility of our products beyond the kitchen and bathroom.”

All seven new shades in the Silestone® Eternal and Sensa by Cosentino® collections is now available in Singapore. For more information, please visit www.silestone.com.sg or www.sensabycosentino.com
