Solar Charging Tables

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Mobile technology is such an essential aspect of modern life, properties must support more mobile charging devices than ever before. Still, finding a comfortable area to recharge outside can be difficult. ConnecTable solar table charging stations are a unique way to address these problems.

Dotted around college campuses throughout the U.S. are students sitting at outdoor tables that include a solar panel canopy.  While doing classwork, they can access the internet, recharge their phones and computers and socialize with other students.

These are attractive, extremely durable tables, forged from structural steel with a sleek architectural look.  Placed in highly trafficked areas without access to electrical outlets, they make a bold, green statement about a campus or a corporate facility.  The tables fit well into the work and lifestyle choices of people who like to get out of the classroom or office and work outside, in natural light and good weather.

New ConnecTable installations can be found at The Savannah Technical college, Albemarle High School (the company’s first high school install) and at AT&T’s Mexico flagship store in an upscale shopping, Class A office and residential district.

Convenient Solar That Makes a Statement

The aesthetic appeal of the ConnecTable is matched by its performance. These self-ballast mounted, solar table charging stations with both USB & 120V charging capabilities are topped with commercial-grade high-power panels that provide superior solar harvest while generating sustainable energy.

Designed and manufactured for a long service life, the ConnecTable requires little to no maintenance, is highly resistant to vandalism, and is the only table on the market with 100% fabricated structural steel base construction, giving it a 90 mph wind rating.

Staying connected in public spaces

ConnecTable solar table charging stations utilize truly off-grid, solar technology to meet the increasing consumer demand for outdoor mobile device charging in public spaces. In a world that relies on constant connectivity, public areas with little-to-no access to the grid often go underutilized.

Whatever the season or weather, the high-capacity battery, charged by the solar modules, reliably performs overnight and through multiple overcast and inclement weather days, assuring that anyone, anywhere can rely on their ConnecTable to power their electronic devices in comfortable convenience.

Easy Installation in less than one day

The ConnecTable will be a statement to feature during campus tours, and will attract the attention of visitors to the school. “Going green” has never been so simple – a half day installation of ConnecTable solar charging stations can help universities get on the path to carbon neutrality.

Many existing school “green funds” provide for projects like the tables because of the sustainable benefits they offer. Businesses who donate tables to the school as a gift may be eligible for tax incentives. CarrierClass Green Infrastructure is committed to helping a campus find the most cost-effective way to decrease its carbon footprint through the installation of ConnecTable solar charging tables.

Depending on your geographical location, corporate campuses, shopping centers and other commercial buyers can use the 30% renewable energy Investment Tax Credit (ITC) for purchase of ConnecTables.

Securely fixes and supports during dry construction

Reading Time: 2 minutes

pic1As a specialist for manual clamping tools, BESSEY now offers a solution for securing a wide variety of building materials on the ceiling. The flexible but stable ST telescopic drywall support serves as a helping “extra hand” for safe one-man assembly during dry construction. It is available in three sizes and can handle up to 60 kilograms.

The stable but flexible construction of the new ST telescopic drywall support holds a wide variety of building materials, such as plasterboard, wooden boards, panels, roof battens or metal bars. Even thin construction foils can be quickly, easily and securely fixed to a dust protection wall. The largest version of the BESSEY telescopic drywall support can be extended up to 2.90 metres. The base plates with a size of 8.5 x 6.5 cm have a swivel range of -45° to +45°. This means it can also be used on slopes. A secure grip – even on sensitive surfaces and maximum load – is ensured by the rubberised contact surfaces. The extremely stable steel tube construction of the BESSEY ST telescopic drywall support is resilient up to a maximum of 60 kilograms. An unintentional retraction of the inner tube is prevented by locking the release button.

Easy, quick and safe handlingpic2

Before using the ST telescopic drywall support, make sure that the locking pin on the release button is moved to the left. Only then can the telescopic inner pipe for the presetting be pulled out and locked at the required length. Pushing the locking pin to the right again blocks the release button and secures the inner pipe. Now turn the preset ceiling bracket clockwise using the foam handle until the upper contact surface makes full contact with the work piece and fix it securely in place. To release, turn the bracket anti-clockwise again. As soon as the locking pin has been pushed to the left, the release button can be actuated and the inner pipe retracted. Done!

The ST telescopic drywall support is available in three sizes: The ST125 with an adjustment path of 75 to 125 cm as well as the ST250 with an adjustment path of 145 to 250 cm have a load limit of 60 kg. The ST290 version with an adjustment path of 160 to 290 cm can be loaded with a maximum of up to 50 kg.

Silestone® N-Boost in iconic white

Cosentino has revolutionised the field of quartz surfaces once again with the innovative new technological development known as Silestone® N-Boost. The company has been continuously expanding the Silestone® range since its first launch in 1990. The 2017 launch of Silestone® N-Boost is a testament to Cosentino’s continuous innovation.

N-Boost modifies the surface of the material at a molecular level, further enhancing its technical performance and aesthetic properties while making the cleaning and maintenance of Silestone® easier than ever before. N-Boost also achieves a greater intensity of colour and a more intense surface brightness. The improvements which N-Boost offers does not affect the other mechanical properties of the material: high resistance to impact and scratching, manufacture in large size and customised formats, and adaptability to the most wide ranging demands of design and interior architecture.

With the arrival of N-Boost, Cosentino has positioned itself at the forefront of a new era for quartz surfaces.

Two new colours; Iconic Black and Iconic White, created with Silestone® N-Boost, were officially launched in Singapore on 10th March 2017.

The Iconic Black boasts a new and intense shade of black that expresses elegance and adds distinction to any indoor space. Its beauty makes it the ideal choice for ambiances that desire for an emphasis on precision and personality. Thanks to its very sophisticated aesthetics and functionality, Iconic Black is synonymous with purity and excellence – with its deep, intensely black finish, the exquisiteness of its polished texture and its incomparable mechanical properties.

Iconic Black’s beautiful and attractive appearance makes it the most elegant shade in the Silestone® range, offering a wide array of design possibilities that can be a world where quality and beauty go hand in hand.

The other colour – Iconic White is the purest, lightest and brightest white currently available in the world of quartz surfaces. Going even further than the legendary Blanco Zeus by Silestone®, the best selling colour in the brand’s history, the arrival of Iconic White ushers a true revolution.

Iconic White has been created to provide greater luminosity and clarity to the most demanding spaces. The perfect combination of hygiene, purity and amplitude is possible with Iconic White, which also brings personality and differentiation to any private or public project where it is used.

Valentín Tijeras, Product and Innovation Director of Cosentino: “With Silestone® N-Boost we once again take a competitive lead in the market. To achieve the similar results, other manufacturers apply a sealant layer to the surface of the material, at the expense of wear and tear overtime. Stains would also eventually appear. The molecular fusion that we have obtained with Silestone® N-boost lasts forever. The spectacular brightness and intensity of colour we have achieved with this treatment process is without doubt yet another differentiating factor that continues to position us in the vanguard in terms of innovation in the quartz surface sector.”

N-Boost will also be launched in the Silestone® Eternal Collection later this year. During the course of the year this innovative treatment process will be progressively included in all of the brand’s colours, and be available in the complete range of thicknesses for the selected colours.

New cost-effective anti-solar paint named X Cool.

Singapore’s temperature has risen by more than double the global average rate over the past six decades, according to the Meteorological Service Singapore. To combat the rising heat and high electricity consumption from the overuse of air-conditioning, Singapore’s Ngee Ann Polytechnic researchers have developed a new cost-effective anti-solar paint named X Cool.

Comparison with market alternatives

Developed over two years of rigorous testing, this new anti-solar paint is the first to not require a primer before application, enabling cost reductions of up to 50% compared to market alternatives. With this new innovation, the overall temperatures of buildings will be reduced by at least 5°C, lowering electricity consumption in the process.

Current anti-solar paints are highly-flammable, sensitive to mildew, emit high levels of toxic gases, and have poor weather resistance. With a formulation that addresses all these drawbacks, the eSolar-Shield is a game changer in creating a more sustainable Singapore.

X Cool is a heat-reduction water based paint that features a non-toxic formulation with fire-resistant properties. It is developed and manufactured in Singapore, and can help to significantly lower the internal temperature of buildings. It can also be applied on a wide variety of surfaces. The paint has also been duly tested and approved by building consultants, and proven to be both fungus and weathering free.

The anti-solar paint is used on the building façade to offer shielding for buildings warmed by solar heat during daylight hours.

Commercially attractive

The project has successfully-attracted commercial interest from five companies. The team is currently working with a local start-up, SPRING Singapore and Building Construction Authority to testbed the anti-solar paint. A trial test with Tan Tock Seng Hospital will be conducted to study the effectiveness of anti-solar paint in combatting moulding on hospital walls.
