TK Elevator (TKE) has won two Elevator World 2025 Project of the Year Awards for escalator and moving walks installations. TKE demonstrated outstanding capabilities to bring strong solution expertise and technical implementation within architecturally challenging environments. The Grand Cruise Terminal at Doha Port was awarded first place in the “Escalators, New Construction” category, and the Sky Bridge at Hong Kong International Airport won first place in the “Moving Walks” category.

Both projects highlight TKE’s expertise in understanding the tourism and transportation industries and designing tailored solutions that allow customers to operate high-capacity ports effectively and travellers to reach their destinations safely and smoothly. Elevator World’s recognition is a testament to TKE’s dedication to delivering exceptionally engineered solutions that complement the site’s architectural beauty.

“We are honoured by Elevator World’s recognition of our talented teams and their groundbreaking work in Doha and Hong Kong,” said Uday Yadav, CEO of TK Elevator. “These remarkable projects demonstrate our understanding of the challenges architects and engineers face and reflect our commitment to providing world-class mobility solutions for passengers around the world, enhancing urban infrastructure, and improving overall travel experiences.”

Grand Cruise Terminal at Doha Port was awarded first place in the “Escalator, New Construction” category. In alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030 and its emphasis on expanding the nation’s tourism sector, the Grand Cruise Terminal at Doha Port stands as a new maritime gateway and a key attraction for cruise enthusiasts and passengers globally.

Forbes recognised it as one of the world’s most beautiful cruise terminals. This architectural marvel boasts traditional Arab design, restores the historic connection between Doha and the sea, and boosts tourism to the country. During the 2023-24 cruise season, the Doha Port recorded a 38 percent increase in visitors and a 33 percent rise in ships serviced compared to the previous season, aided by TKE’s escalator solution.

Hong Kong International Airport Sky Bridge secured first place in the “Moving Walks” category. The Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) Sky Bridge is a groundbreaking project designed to enhance the passenger experience and elevate HKIA’s status as a global aviation hub. The Sky Bridge, the world’s longest airside bridge, spans a taxiway at the airport and soars 28 metres above ground. This architectural marvel allows even the largest passenger aircraft, the Airbus A380, to pass beneath it.

Spanning 200 metres, the Sky Bridge connects Terminal 1 with the T1 Satellite Concourse, significantly reducing travel time within the airport, eliminating the need for shuttle buses and enhancing the overall passenger journey.

TK Elevator (TKE) recently announced another prominent infrastructure project as the technology and service provider for the newly inaugurated Sydney Metro City Line, one of Australia’s biggest public transport initiatives. Featuring 190 new TKE elevator and escalator units, the landmark project is set to revolutionise how commuters travel across Sydney.

The Sydney Metro City Line officially opened on 19 August 2024, seeing remarkable success with roughly 200,000 passenger journeys daily. The metro program, which includes the operational M1 line with three additional lines under construction, seeks to enhance efficiency throughout Australia’s biggest city, offering fast, reliable metro services with fully accessible stations. TK Elevator’s mobility solutions support this objective by providing essential connectivity in the ‘last mile’ of passengers’ journeys, allowing them to easily transition from the train to their final destinations.

All TKE units, and additional third-party units, will be supported by TK Elevator’s Universal Service platform which offers comprehensive service for timely maintenance, inspections, and repairs. This provides a complete solution for Sydney Metro, further enhancing the seamless passenger experience.

TK Elevator’s Taiyuan Botanical Garden project in Shanxi, China was recognized in the “Moving Walks” category

TK Elevator is pleased to once again receive Elevator World’s Project of the Year award. With its Taiyuan Botanical Garden project in Shanxi awarded “Project of the Year 2022” under the “Moving Walks” category, the company has been given this prestigious recognition consecutively in the award’s past three editions. The award highlights TK Elevator’s continued achievement in providing and installing some of the most innovative and customer-centric mobility solutions across the globe.

Occupying the site of a former coal mine, the Taiyuan Botanical Garden was transformed into a modern landscape park and museum by Austrian architect firm Delugan Meissl. Key features of this park include three-domed greenhouses and a large terrace providing a panoramic view across the park. The highlight of the project is the moving walkway that extends through an opening through the roof of the entrance building, provided by TK Elevator.

The installation of a pair of TK Elevator’s Orinoco moving walks at a 12-degree incline, 1000mm width, 11.85m height and 62.4m span in the sustainability-themed botanical garden not only sets a new record as the longest and highest (in terms of rise) moving walks installed by the company in China, but also showcases the exceptional build and aesthetic qualities of the German-engineered TK Elevator products.

“Customer satisfaction is of paramount importance to TK Elevator. As an iconic element of the park’s design and the sole entrance to the panoramic terrace, the Orinoco moving walk was chosen by the customer for its proven track record in safety and reliability,” says Peter Walker, CEO at TK Elevator. “We are proud to show our entrepreneurial spirit and once again convince with our innovative mobility solutions.”
